1-9-2026 Superintendent Weekly Update

Dear D51 Families and Colleagues,

Welcome back to a new year in District 51. After a well-earned winter break, it’s been energizing to see our schools come back to life. There’s something special about that first return from break: classrooms buzzing, routines finding their rhythm again, and the unmistakable sense of momentum building. We are so excited to have everyone back in our buildings!

As we returned this week, staff used Monday for second-semester planning and Tuesday for building-based in-service, taking time to reconnect, reflect on our work, and prepare intentionally for the months ahead. I’m grateful for the care, collaboration, and professionalism our teams bring to this work, and for the strong start that sets the tone for a successful second half of the school year.

The week began on a high note as we announced a new partnership connecting Central High School’s STEM program with Colorado Mesa University Engineering. On Wednesday, CHS STEM staff and students along with Colorado Mesa University and CU Boulder, joined us for a partnership signing event that highlighted what’s possible when K–12 education and higher education come together to support student futures. You can read more about it below, but we are incredibly thankful for our Engaged & Supportive Community Partners at CMU and excited for the doors this will open up for our CHS students.
