10-17-2025 Superintendent Weekly Update

Dear D51 Families and Colleagues,

I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend and found a little time to rest and recharge. This week we celebrated our Students of the Quarter with their quarterly luncheon. You can read more about it below, but I wanted to shoutout CMU and Alpine Bank one more time for sponsoring this event and for providing scholarships to all of our winners. Thanks for being engaged and supportive community partners with us. Speaking of engaged and supportive community partners, I had the chance to welcome our newest cohort of Leadership D51 members this week. This is our fourth year running this program, and it’s an opportunity for leaders in our community to learn more about the district and become more informed advocates for our work moving forward. Shoutout to all of our cohort members for joining us this year!

I was also able to take in some extracurricular activities this week. I was able to watch some of our Adapted Soccer Tournament held at Fruita Monument High School where our students who receive Special Education services had the opportunity to compete in a fun soccer tournament outdoors. Shoutout to Katie Hummel from our Adapted PE Department and all of our students and staff who helped make this event possible. I was also able to catch all of our D51 marching bands and colorguards perform at Regionals! The students did an amazing job, and you can see the results below. And I was able to catch some volleyball action as GJHS took on FMHS last night. Shoutout to the GJHS and FMHS communities for coming together before the game to honor a member of our D51 Family, Molly Ryan, who is battling cancer. It was a great opportunity for our community to come together for a great cause, and you can help donate here if you’d like to support her care.
