10-3-2025 Superintendent Weekly Update

Dear D51 Families and Colleagues,

Happy Friday, D51 Family. Apparently folks are all abuzz about a new Taylor Swift album dropping today, but I know what y’all have really been waiting all week for…the latest Superintendent Friday Update! 😂

This week marked an important milestone for our district with October Count, the official student enrollment count that determines funding for next school year. While it may seem like a technical process, it highlights something much bigger: every student matters, and every day counts.

💡 Did You Know? In Colorado, school funding for the entire year is based on student attendance during October Count. The official Count Day was October 1. However, even if your child missed school on October 1, they may still be included if they were enrolled and attending before the official count and return to school before the end of October.

Speaking of showing up, shoutout to our students, staff, families, and community who show up weekly to support our D51 students in their extracurricular activities. I was able to take in some sporting events this week, including a fun in-district softball battle between Palisade High School and Fruita Monument High School. Be sure to get out and support our students this weekend, and I’ll see y’all at Stoker tonight for the Palisade High School Homecoming football game!
