11-14-2025 Superintendent Weekly Update

Happy Friday, D51!

Last weekend, my son and I were able to join the Pear Park Elementary School community for their annual Pear Park Panda Waddle 5k run! It was great to see students, staff, families, and community members all out enjoying the beautiful weather for a 5k run together. Shoutout to Principal Zach Moore and Mr. Moseley for keeping this tradition alive and promoting healthy activity for our youngest learners. Tomorrow, Central High School is hosting its “Break a Leg” 5K to support the theater department. If you’re able to, I’d encourage you to come out and participate with us. It’s a great way to support CHS and enjoy time together as a community. Sign up here, and see you out there!

Last weekend I was also able to watch our amazing D51 bands perform during the Veterans Day Parade in downtown Grand Junction. I love it when the broader community gets to enjoy performances from our students, as they don’t always get that opportunity if they don’t have kids in our schools. Shoutout to our high school bands and their Band Directors for all of the hard work y’all put in during the school week, and during the weekend! Speaking of sharing the great things happening in D51 with the broader community, I was able to present a Strategic Plan update to the current cohort of community members who are taking part in the GJ Chamber Leadership program. This was a great opportunity to highlight the amazing progress we have made over the past three years and where we are headed over the next five years. Thanks to Candace from the Chamber for the opportunity, and shoutout to Callie in our Comms Department and Dr. Christensen from the D51 Foundation for organizing the visit.
