9-19-2025 Superintendent Weekly Update

It feels like just yesterday we were preparing to welcome students back, and now here we are, already a month and a half into the school year with just three weeks left in the first quarter. September is one of my favorite months, filled with exciting opportunities, homecoming celebrations, and strong community connections. As we have settled into the rhythm of the year, I am proud of how our students, staff, and families have embraced new schools, new classrooms, and new faces with such enthusiasm and resilience. Let’s carry that positive energy forward as we move through the rest of the first quarter.

Speaking of positive energy, the positive energy was high at the First Annual D51 Adapted Cross Country Meet this week. You can read more about it below, but it was a great reminder of how much better we are as a community when we work together. I loved seeing our D51 students and staff supporting our adapted PE students as they accomplished their goal of finishing a cross country race. In D51, we welcome all. And when we say all we mean all. While at times it can seem like division is the default in our world, there’s joy in coming together, and we need more, not less of that right now. Shoutout to everyone in the D51 Family for making connectedness the default each and every day.
